This is just a diecast model (from a thread over in chat), but still a zebra striped paint job. Rick

That's funny you mention that..as vinyl just crossed my mind as an easy way to lay that out. I've done enuff painting to know that striping it could be a bitch with paint.

Figure a couple different stencils and cut the vinyl would be pretty cool. Maybe.

Does Zebra striping actually help you in the wild? Not that any zebra are indigenous to Ohio or anything. . .

Hey, it was 1982, and I was 17. Had a drawing and plans to do OD with a tiger stripe camo pattern.............but that would have cost more than the can of black enamel.

Oh boy oh boy, ever since I was a kid I have always wanted a Willy's pickup or a Heep painted in a zebra scheme. Why? Because of the television show "Dakatari" and the John Wayne movie "Hatari". Anyone remember Clarance, the Cross-Eyed Lion from Daktari?

Daktari had a Jeep Gladiator pickup painted in zebra scheme, which you can see here:

http://www.showrods.com/kustom_cars_...p_sticker.html
http://www.showrods.com/way_out_whee...jeep_card.html

There was a zebra striped Forward Control Jeep flatbed in Hatari, but I've not been able to find any still photos of it. All the other vehicles are in green.

Here's a tiny pic of a zebra FJ40 http://www.rental-algarve.com/imgs/act_zebra.jpg

Here's a zebra FJ40 on someone's album I found a while back on a websearch http://gallery.bianco.net/view_photo...bum16&id=zebra

While not FJ40's or other Land Cruisers, here are some other vehicles showing different zebra patterns. There's a wide variety in the stripe patterns.

Here's a Land Rover pop-top in zebra paint. http://www.4x4journal.net/images_site/lros/Daktari.jpg

An older Land Rover http://www.fourfold.ca/billm/LandRov...es/08Zebra.jpg

I doubt I would ever paint my FJ40 in a zebra scheme, but we can always daydream, can't we?

You local shops that make signs.. all you need to do is tell them what you want, I am very sure you could get them in vinyl, easy on, easy to take off if you want to sell it.. your stripes will easily survive the car wash, weather and so on.

Those were SWEET! Gave me a ton of ideas.

Definately going to do this in the next couple weeks. Starting to prep it this weekend.

Just awesome...flat out. Totally stoked.

One of the guys that used to work at Ironpigoffroad had a 40 that was "Tiger Striped" orange and black.

That's the one I posted above. The picture I posted was when Josh had it. I still have my keychain too.

i did get drunk in mcnabb also...does that count?

were you there that year? john bird drove out with rainey...it was kind of weird watching them drive past my cabin...one black and white striped 40 and one red and white striped 40.

of course, the nuclearlemon was originally supposed to be yellow with blue zebra stripes..just never got around to it.

BTW, you might find these zebra ID charts useful. They show different stripe patterns. Some of the patterns in the vehicle photos above and on the web are ficticious. Others are based on actual zebra patterns but vary by type of zebra.

Man, this is totally kick ass you guys are offering these pics up.

Will take a look at those patterns and see what can be done. That one by FoxFab looks like it's a base of black with white stripes which is the first one I've see that heavy.

Gonna really put some love into this as it needs to look good to pull it off right.

The truck I posted is Zebranator ll which we won in a raffle, Rainey Kirk the builder was a graphic artist and his wife was a regular artist, they tag teamed on the job.........AFAIK that it was as authentic as I have ever seen, was white base and the black was drawn with pencil and then filled using sign painters enamel with brushs.......I replaced one fender and did the job myself simply by connecting the dots so to speak, loved it.....I got lots more pix of it.....
