Throttle cable should *not* be controlling your idle. The cable should have enough slack (not much) that the throttle plate is fully closed at idle.

Spec. for idle is 650rpm. This is when warm and (I'm pretty sure) in park.

Get the truck there and then deal with any clunking issues separately.
