If you don't mind the installation part with the HID, don't care if you potentially blind on-coming traffic, don't mind neither not minding coughing up the $$($) when it comes to replacing one of the components if it/they fail, and don't mind possibly blinding yourself in a snow/rain storm at night, then I'd say go for the HID's!
As far as the sheer output the HID's would be brighter than HIR's (Not too much though, according to Cary's info.)
And lastly, it might be just illegal to do such (HID) conversion on stock/halogen reflectors. Check locally!
