I'm surprised you didn't find any sand dollars. Anyways usually the best spot for shelling is at the shellbank (oddly enough) where the waves are rolling up the beach at low tide. Tons of sharks teeth and shells in that area. In fact the sw coast of Fl is the sharks teeth capital of the world, apparently.

Who said I didn't find any sand dollars?

Of course, I think we took one home that wasn't quite dead yet.

Friday morning, right after breakfast, there was a wicked low tide, which exposed a sandbar about 75' out, so we waded out to that and found a whole bunch of stuff we hadn't seen before--all the augers were out, as well as a bunch of crabs, and the shallow troughs were filled with small shells. Didn't see any shark's teeth, but we found a bunch of other stuff.
