Rhetoric aside, I'm saying that he should have an opt-out plan if it doesn't work out like thinks it will. His original plan was to slap the locker in with no way to disengage it if he didn't like it. I guess he could remove the front driveshaft if it came to that though.
I only have my own experiences to call upon. I've had a Lock-Rite in the rear of a Nissan P/U. It locked under just about any acceleration in a turn, which was fine and never did anything but make people look at me like I was hotrodding or something. I've also tried to steer my locked 80 on trails when it had decent traction, which was very difficult. I put the two experiences together in my head, and the outcome doesn't sound pretty- but yes, it's all theoretical.
