My concern isn't about what it drives like 'normally'. You can probably drive it without killing any nuns for awhile. The problem is going to come when you least expect it, as problems usually do. Like when you're taking a left and notice that the oncoming car is closer than you thought, or going faster than you thought, so you have to gun it to get out of the way. That's when you'll run over Mary Poppins pushing a tram with quintuplets on the opposite corner, waiting for the light so they can go get some ice-cream at Thrifty's.
You originally said you were gonna eventually get around to installing a part-time kit. My suggestion is to install the hubs when you install the front auto-locker, so you aren't stuck with the locked front end if you decide it's not so much fun to drive. That way you can do your experiment and prove everyone wrong who doubted you.
But you got one guy to tell you that everything will be fine, so go for it.
