easy there big fella...those statistics put a roof over my head and fund the cruiser addiction... And we've had this discussion before too. It's poor use/misues of the numbers by those who either don't understand, or have agenda that make the numbers lie. Not the numbers themselves. They're just one of many tools for the job.
and Decavo, yes you use it every day. You either understand it and make it work for you, or pay the price (real $) to those who use math and statistics to their advantage. Don't believe me? Ask your mortgage broker, insurance agent, hospital, bank, pharmaceutical company, state lottery, casino, anything you buy with a warranty, etc. etc. Don't think it's basic algebra? Try designing anything mechanical without it. Good luck making money at it. Ask Landtank how much basic algebra went into designing an intake manifold that experiences thermal expandsion during operation. Don't like geometry? Try building a house, a bike wheel, or even castor correction bushings, etc. etc...
