speaking of which:
employee-to-ruffle sits in my office this morning....
he had basically gotten a warning for not applying himself to the job two weeks ago, and been asked to take more responsibility for his shit rather than just waiting for orders
his task for today was to show me a schedule for the week (that's how I can judge whether he "gets" what his responsibility is); it did not contain one of the most important duties
so, I call him on that and he goes: "well, I basically gave that all to the summer student, and we need to talk what happens when she leaves this week, I certainly can't do that all"

WTF, we gave some of your work to the summer student so she could learn, not you slack off
I was not impressed by that attitude in the spirit of "taking responsibility"
what say TUT, should I give him more chances or cut him loose
