If you don't mind me asking, how did your rifle/scope combo perform? You did mention this issue with the spotlight.... was that a non-scope issue? My local Gander has this rifle chambered in the .375 H&H on "red tag" for $1700. I hope to go to Africa in 2010... but plans are still not quite firm.

The spotlight issue happened with the outfitter's gun. I had completely lost the crosshairs and could no aim. My scope worked out great. When we were stalking trhough thick brush, I would put the scope in 1.5x for close shots. At that low power, it was almost like using iron sights. A lot of guys over there kept saying the .375 is the best all around caliber while hating on my dad's .300 RUM.
