If the cable is OK why don't you simply get some new brass marine clamps. They are very tough, resist corrosion, and will be the last you will need.
Use pieces of soft copper pipe you can get from somoene who does plumbing or AC, 5/16 or 3/8, insert stripped wire, smash flat, solder, drill 5/16" for neg and 3/8" for pos and install on the marine clamp's threaded posts. Or simply on your existing battery posts if you already have them (no need for a marine clamp then )
