I've seen Po-Po departments sell off their old or extra sidearms when they change models. Got me a S&W Model 27 Highway Patrolman model about 10 years ago on the cheap when the local Sheriff's Dept went to S&W semi-autos. Same thing, sold a huge lot of gubs and you had to "know somebody" to get in on the deal.
If, when the last deal that fell thru everybody got their money back, i say go for it. $150 ain't too bad for a new gub

From my buddy, yes, there was a big pile of Rem 870s being distributed a while back.

That's what I suspect. If it wasn't a good buddy, I'd be a whole lot more cautious. He explained to me that his co-worker's brother is affiliated with a contractor (similar to Blackwater), and they provide new arms to their people, and the used ones get distributed. Doesn't seem very cost effective to me, but I'm just a dumb redneck.

So, again.....anyone heard of this before?
