Seriously, in 1993 when I was appointed as our country TJM distributor I placed my order for several rear bumpers but didn't specify the side and the aussies sent me their DS as the default (which is of course our PS) so it seems they like it that way and has nothing to do with weight leveling but more with clearing the view when backing.
