I should worry about expressing my true opinion on something for fear of alienating someone? If that truely would alienate someone, then that's something they need to deal with.
Hopefully, there are enough "smarter" people to be able to differentiate between disagreeing with someone's opinion and actually disliking or having someone dislike you due to their/your opinion.

Depends on the subject and the situation.
Do you talk politics and religion around the campfire on wheeling trips with folks you don't really know all that well?
If you do, that says something about you as well.
