I couldn't imagine not having an overdrive behind the 6.2 if it will see highway use. I use 4th gear on the highway sometimes when towing something heavy, and any sustained speed over 60 MPH is too many RPM's and too much engine noise.

It will fit fine behind a Cummins if it's the Dodge version that has a 1" longer input shaft than the GM version.
