After some negotiating, with help from this forum, it came down from $4900 to $3800. That still seemed a bit steep but
it is a Lexus dealership. I went ahead and changed all the other fluids for another $500 as well while it was there. I have a feeling it was something small in the tranny that broke and probably could have easily been fixed for a lot less but I was getting kind of worn out dealing with it so I went ahead and had it replaced.
I also put some 295/75/r16 Nitto TG ATs on it and now I want a lift. I really like the new tires. It looks and feels great with the AHC in the high setting. There is no rubbing in the normal mode but it would feel and look much better with another 2 inches.
