Just found this thread. Some pretty awesome pics. I especially like the "first catch" pics of the kids.
Here's our middle son a couple of years ago. We were at Cub Scout Day camp (the kids spend the day in activities and go home each evening) and I was running the fishing activity. The day had ended and my son and I were playing w/ a new 5-piece backpacking rod. There were several bass in the creek but they would not strike on anything that I had. (Having been fed all day long by the 120+ Cub Scouts that day) I finally pulled out a 30 yr old "Lucky 13" that my Mom had given me from Dad's tackle box. It was always my favorite lure when I was growing up. I figured that if it snagged, I'd go swimming in the creek for it. Tossed the line to the far bank of the creek and before I could hand it to my son to reel in, two or three bass jumps on the Lucky 13. I set the line and handed the rod to my son. Half way across the creek the bass jumps out of the water and flails back and forth (picture perfect). He has the rod tip up in the air and enough tension to keep the fish on the hook and lands him all on his own. We caught a few more that evening before we headed home.
