Since I live in Seattle, where we have a lot of "light" rain (drizzle we call it) skipping can be a problem. OEM inserts are better I think. Getting the blades set up the right way is also important - there is a R and L, and the curve of the spring steel inserts is different from L to R sides.) However, the single most important "variable" - already mentioned above - is that the blade needs to be perpendicular to the glass.
