Well, I won't direct the conversation toward you anymore as you seem to be irritated for whatever reason. I don't buy your assumption that if they were great, bigger companies would be all over them. In fact the contrary is usually true. In my experience small companies almost always make superior products to the giants (of course this is a generalization and not absolute).
I have no interest in anything other than protecting my engine, and I'm in no way invested in wanting Stainless Steel filters to outperform synthetics. If I find that the TruFilter doesn't provide adequate filtration, It will be off the engine immediately and I'll go back to the quality synthetic filters I ran previously.
So, to anyone who is interested in getting to the bottom of all of this filter business...
I just got off the phone with my local performance shop and they were not familiar enough with Stainless filter screens to offer an opinion. They suggested having an oil analysis done in a lab. I will do an oil change, and run the TruFilter for 1,000 miles and then do the same with the K&N or Mobile 1. Send it in and we should have some first hand info. Of course I'll test both under similar driving conditions. 1000 miles in the city is gonna be different than 1,000 highway miles. So, It will take some time to get an answer, but at least I'll have some proof one way or another. If I run into any good info in the meantime, I'll post it up in the "oil filter.... which one?" thread.
