Its not so much that there is play in mine, although it is made from fairly soft rubber, its that its tantamount to another ujoint in the steering linkage that has no support. With my truck at a standstill no stands under the front axle (not sure how one might observe this while the truck is moving) my linkage swings back and forth at the point where the shaft passes through the firewall when the steering wheel is moved back and forth. My opinion is that the bushing in the steering column is not to blame in my case. I cant move the shaft coming out of the column up down or sideways.
