No shark...certainly not a barracuda. There would've been too much noise, at any age, with pain and adrenaline.

To disappear like that is likely current, disorientation, and / or health related or a combination.


I'd wager it happens more frequently than you think.
and or alcohol, it amazes me how many people think it'll be cool to swim with the fishy after a few boat drinks.
