FJ40 parts are usually 2-5 days out dependent on your source. The dealerships don't stock them.
The 350 has more a lot more power than the 3FE, is friendlier, and gets better gas mileage. I simply can't understand why anyone would want to go that route.
I had a super clean stock 1966 FJ40 and it sucked. Sure, it would likely run forever, but I needed a rig that won't get run over in the slow lane, won't leave me stranded because a part is hard to get, and is practical to drive long distances on a schedule. I don't need a plaything, I need an expedition grade, reliable vehicle that can handle everything in the aggregate. This can be done with a FJ40 with a V8, disc brakes, and a good stereo. That old F engine and 3 on the tree will get you killed driving up to Tahoe on Nyack grade if you're not careful, much less most other places on I-5 and I-80.
