I've been using synthetics exclusively since 1984. I've used Castrol (when it first came out), Mobil1 for most of that time, Redline and now Amsoil synthetics.

Never had any leaks in any of the vehicles. Even changed one over at 109,000 miles.

I totally disagree that there is no benefit to changing over an older vehicle that has been on a steady diet of dino for years to synthetic.

The synthetic will clean the engine out very well. It will free up the rings if they are stuck and restore some compression and even reduce oil consumption if that is an issue. It will let the engine handle very cold temps and very high temps far better than dino.

I've never seen a measurable increase in mpg on any vehicle that I run synthetic. Will it increase HP/TQ, I don't know and I don't care. I use synthetics for the reasons I stated above and use them in everything (diesel tractors, lawn mowers, riders and push, chippers, shredders, snowblowers, etc... I mean everything.) I just changed over a 16 year old lawn mower to synthetic. It will clean the rings and bring back the compression, reduce oil use and make it easier to start.

So, for the reasons I stated above. I must disagree, based on 24 years of real world experience in varying climates in various pieces of equipment with various oils.
