I still might end up putting up posts near the house if I don't like what it's doing. It'd actually be fairly simple to do, I could dig footings right next to the house, and run the post on the house side of the fascia board, and bolt some new wood on the inside to help support it all.
personally at this point I would just put 4x4 posts right under the fascia board and maybe paint them to look like part of the house not the pergola.

if you went with posts against the wall on the house side of the fascia, i would make giant shelf brackets extending from thos posts that would brace the fascia boards from underneath. you would need to jack it up slightly when you do this to ensure the posts carry the load.
