That's the point, I do..
The diamond housings are really nice.
The 8.4 is nice because of the supports on the main bearing caps.
The stock 8.4 shafts snap like twigs (more often than the stock mini shafts for some reason)
If he is going to build this axle. I see no reason to dump 5K into a yota axle.
Get the 8.4 and whatever locker he wants (most of the cost is the 8.4 locker/ring gear)
Beef the living crap out of the housing with some scrap steel being VERY carefull not to warp the housing while welding. (not expensive)
Make a set of the spacers to make the axles wider (very simple if he has access to a lathe..)
Call bobby and get the proper length 30 spline longs and inners. ($635 on sale right now)
Add the 5th stud steering knuckle conversion. (a piece of angle Iron does wonders for those who do not torque often enough)
Go wheel it.
I just saved him probably 2.5K.
If that axle breaks, then he will realize the reasons for not using yota parts in a heavy pig..
If it never breaks, then he will come back on here and tell me that D60's and 14bolts are overkill..
