The family truckster has 56k on the clock and the original factory Michelin Cross Terrain M+S tires are done (I'm surprised they lasted this long).

I was planning to stay with the factory size of 265/70/17 and I really have no complaints about the Michelin Cross Terrains as they are very smooth and quite and seem to have handled well in the snow and rain (which is really the worst weather they will ever see in St. Louis, MO).

We drive the thing down to Destin, FL every spring and up to northern Minnesota every summer, and typically take it over to Kansas City, MO once or twice a year - so I'm really looking for a good highway tire that will perform well in snow/ice/rain (I guess we see more rain than anything else).

On the plus side, if I stay with the Michilen Cross Terrain, I have the factory spare that has never touched the ground, so I would only need to buy 4 tires

I just figured I better check with the mud community before I buy and then find out these are being discontinued due to a known defect or the like. I'm half tempted to just put a set of BFG A/T tires on it and call it a day - they would probably last at least 50k miles and would add some rough road ability, but probably at the cost of more rolling resistence and noise on the highway/around town and also probably cost more initially.
