Here is what I put up in my backyard. Treated 4x4's with treated 2x4's top and bottom. Then capped with a treated 2x6. Then I stretched out a roll of galvanized wire from Lowes between the 2x4's.
I wanted something that was less visually obtrusive than chain link.
The 2x4 at the bottom is nice when it's time to pull out the weed eater. It has kept my dogs in and the deer out so far.
I just noticed the tree at the far right side of this pic is the one that fell on my house last year during a big storm.
