The FJ Cruiser is not called a Land Cruiser. It is not called a FJ Land Cruiser, or a Land Cruiser Sport, or a Land Cruiser Mini, or a Land Cruiser Junior, or a Land Cruiser Elite, or a Land Cruiser Short, or a Land Cruiser Basic, or a Land Cruiser 2, or anything like that.
Therefore, it is NOT a Land Cruiser.

And, just so you'll know, in my family I have had a 55 series, an 80 series and a 100 series. I currently own only the 80 series. They are all Land Cruisers, because that is what Toyota calls them. Toyota could call a Corolla a Land Cruiser, and it would be a Land Cruiser. Wanting something very, very badly doesn't make it so.

I never said the the FJ is a Land Cruiser, I said it was build on a Land Cruiser platform. So stop putting words in my mouth

I never said
YOU are making comparisons. I said some people fall into the trap of doing that.

The deal is that they make an FJ Cruiser and a Land Cruiser. I own a Land Cruiser. FJ Cruiser owners own an FJ Cruiser. They could have bought a Land Cruiser, but they did not.
Toyota markets other platforms in other countries differently. They do this to sell trucks. (Prado) The Prado is just that, a Prado. If the people in those country wanted a Land Cruiser they could have bought one too, BUT they bought a Prado.
To consider an FJC a "Land Cruiser", one discounts the fact that the FJC platform is much lighter-duty compared to ALL past true LC that it discredits the LC platform/series.
I can see the attraction of FJC owners "convincing themselves" that they own a true LC, however they live in denial. They own an FJC.

Actually the Prado is a Land Cruiser as Toyota says so, in actual fact in some countries like the UK the Prado is called the Land Cruiser and the 100/200 named Land Cruiser V8 or Land Cruiser Amazon. In Oz and South Africa the Prado is called the Land Cruiser Prado. Toyota specifically lists the Prado under it's Land Cruiser portfolio, not just marketing, but manufacturing and sales as well. Calling the Prado not a true Land Cruiser would constitute the 80/100/200 not being true Land Cruisers either
Last time everyone was in unison that the definition of a Land Cruiser was when Toyota calls it a Land Cruiser.
The FJC is build on the Land Cruiser Prado platform, but is not called a Land Cruiser just FJ Cruiser.
And BTW I'm not sure where you come up with the platform being much lighter duty than a 100 as an example. Care to list the specific details and reliability record to clearly articulate that?

You are 100% correct, maybe the mods can move it to a different thread and everyone can get back on topic with 200 offroad pix.
