Just my opinion...

Don't get me wrong though, the 200 is a sweet machine in its own right, but from my perspective, all of the attributes that have endeared me to the Land Cruiser heritage feel fully muted with the 200. Even though an 80 is very different from my 40 and 60, it feels like a TLC should. Slow, capable and indestructible. A 100 feels muted by about 40% and the 200 feels muted by about 99%. That doesn't make the 200 any less of a great vehicle, just very different.

Please don't think I am dogging your new 200 purchase, as I am not. The winds of change are inevitable. The 200 feels more rally car than TLC to me. It is amazing on fast dirt roads, even with street tires. It is a dream on the highway and eats up miles like nothing short of a Merc. Great stereo, plush seats, killer motor and trans.

Oh well, I am probably just a hopeless functionalist that dreams of little 70 series TLCs jumping across sand dunes in my head
