I like the idea of 55 build a lot!

I want to do one with a 3.4L and FJ80 axles, but. . . .
That rear suspension will not hold
The roll center is wayyyy to low with the panhard bar mount low on the axle like that and will body roll from hell espically with the springs inboarded too, the one link brackets on the axle will get ripped off or twisted and the frame mount on the one link will NOT hold.
U-bolts dont get in the way that much and they will add a lot more "clamping" strength to the axle mounts and take some stress of the welds on the spring perch. Its quality fab work, but that one link will put a hell of a lot of stress on those mounts.
What tubing is that on the top mount 1 1/2? 1 3/4 x .120? Its not THAT hard to bend when you talk about suspension componets
What size heim is that? Is it a good one or a McMaster Carr special? Sooooooo much stress on that point
Broken link suspension SUCKS DONKEY BALLS

Its sucks for you and all of your buddies. Its a good idea but WHERES THE BEEF
On the other hand, at least you wont be bending expensive ass coilovers or airshocks when it breaks
