I've always laughed at the What Cheer name when I pass the exit on I-80. My favorite headline so far is "Fertile Man Marries Dike Woman". Fertile and Dike being towns in Iowa.
All my Iowa ancestors got here long before the railroads. They call came in the first 10 or so years after the Iowa territory was opened. They were fleeing the invasion of Ohio and Indiana by non Quakers.
