Shotguns are the easiest to use when scared and not used to shooting much. It may be easier to just arm yourself with a couple of shotguns when out on walks. You may also want to consider increasing your fencing height and maybe even using razer wire on the side of your property that is near the trailer park. And I would definitely look into the trail cameras. Make sure to practice a lot if you do buy a gun---make it become second nature so if there is a time you must face these boys the reaction will be automatic and something you don't really have to think about.
