If I bought a used 1911 for $5 to 700 I would be very dissapointed if I had to take it down to be worked on..

Prehaps I am cheap, but the $400 to $500 1911's (new) are good shooters for the money, then you have a lot left over for customization...

I need to calculate how much I actually spent on the one I built.
