A diesel will have the opposite affect because of the way it builds torque. While rpms may be slow the torque builds very quickly and that can break stuff. So if you're in a situation were you are bound it's best not to stab the throttle on a diesel. Your longs and polys will be good insurance and you have a smart plan with planning in a 14bolt if needed. An auto would help cushion driveline shocks.
