Thanks All
Well that's about it for making the paint job. Total cost was about $200 for gun, paint, masking, thinner, primer, sandpaper, wirewheels. It took two coats of primer and two coats of paint. The hinges were black rattle can. The color was matched to rustoleum harbour blue. That way, I can touch up easily with rattle can if need be.
I'm pretty happy with the results. I've never painted a car before and always wanted to try. I encourage anyone to go for it. It really isn't that hard, and just figure it is a $200 lesson. It rather f' it up than have a cheap paint shop mess it up. And hey...there are always sandblasters that can get you to square one again, if need be.
The next time I try, it will be a base coat clear coat with real auto paint. That is going on my Ford focus. Not that I'm unhappy with this one, just want to try it all I guess.
