This is an interesting read.
I just got an 06 2 days ago for DD duty. I commute 22 miles daily to and from work. It the sr5, V6 ext cab with 13K and not a scratch on it. So far its really nice. Im 6'2" and 230lbs and I fit comfortably in it. I too notice that my knee rests against the door as well, however, I did that in my other dd too.
Im amazed at how much like a CAR it handles. My former DD was a 97 ford F150, so its a night and day difference between the two.
Im sad to hear that the gas mileage you all are getting is WORSE than what is advertized.
I test drove the 4 cyl...It was pretty GUTLESS IMO, and the gas savings wasnt too stellar as compared to the V6 with the auto. maybe 1-2 MPG.
Mine is staying stock as a pavement pounder.
