My engine suppossedly runs great, a friend heard it running and watched them do a compression check on it before he picked it up for me, so hopefully no suprises once it is in! I went the military route hoping to get a good engine. I have all the accessories, went the v-belt route because that is what the engine was set up for, just waiting on the brackets now. I still didn't get all the brackets in last week so called a local salvage yard to see if they had any 6.2's (they didn't have any a few months ago when I bought the military engine) They have an early 90's with the serpentine belt set-up, wish I had gone that route because the A/C compressor is on the correct side. If I don't receive the set of brackets from the place I have been waiting on this week I may go get the complete serpentine set-up and try to trade in all my accessories for the newer serpentine belt. I did pick up some manifolds so hopefully this week I will get it installed, I am just making sure I get everything done while the engine is out and easy to get to. Still waiting for enough visible progress to post some new pictures.
18 mpg was your highway mpg? That is about what I figured, I was thinking 18-20, what gearing and tire size do you have? What rpm are you turning at the 18 mpg?
What are you using for a tachometer?
Thanks Rusty
