Hey Missiboy, as far as the tongue is concerned you can without weakening the structiure cut the leading edge off and weld in a 2 inch receiver as long as necessary, they are available from places like Northern tool.com, McMaster Carr,com, weld it as you did the rear receiver and use the lunette as well as a 2 inch ball or even a lok and roll system..You gain access to the rear of the vehicle as well as articulation above the shorter tongue.
