The gas tank filler hose is in the way. Otherwise they could have just put an extra compartment on that side to begin with.

I once had a lifted '87 Toyota pickup 4x4 22R 5-speed, etc.
I latter had a '97 Tacoma X-cab V6 5-speed with all kinds of cool stuff on it.
I now have a '07 FJC TRD SE 6-speed completely stock, but still has some cool stuff on it.
