I took off this part off pipe too. Canīt understand why it so complicated shape, it certainly make noticeable extra-friction to air-flow. Thereīs no much noise now.
I just wonder shoud I do same kind of hole to fender like you to get fresher air to it. I donīt need snorkel while driving on asphalt. [
