With the amount of weight that is being added to my 200 series I noticed that the stopping is taking just a little longer.

It was very evident last night when I went out with 4 friends in the truck and noticed that I was having to start stopping sooner.

Any thoughts on this or am I looking for excuses to keep changing this beast??

Now that you have started, unfortunately (or fortunately for some) you cannot stop. You will definately want to look at bigger stoppers with all the weight you have added.

I would start buggin TRD, and see if thier Tundra big brake kit will work. The other option is start looking at a couple of custom companies...like Brembo.

Good luck!

The Tundra has 13.9" x 1.26" and the cruiser has 13.5" x 1.26". Both share the same piston bore area and pad area... My guess is calipers from a Tundra will bolt on and allow use of the larger rotor. I've seen several sets of calipers on ebay for about $250... they looked new. I've towed several larger loads and I can say these brakes are awesome.

GREAT INFO!! I am going to call TRD today and see what they have :)

Here is something interesting:

Sparks Toyota

"Compatible with all Tundra 20" wheels and the TRD 22" Forged Wheel. (This kit will not fit behind 18" wheels)."

Your comments about your diminished braking on your twundy is surprising. I certainly am not doubting you one bit...but I assumed Toyota had finally addressed the deficient braking on Land Cruisers with the 200's larger rotors and calipers. The one I saw at Christo's certainly looked like they should do the job.

Try different pads maybe?

But 20" wheels?! Ok on the road but I don't think 20"+ are going to do you any favors off-road.

I don't think that the 100 brakes are insufficient, at least in an unmodified vehicle. In my experience, they are very "grabby."

This could honestly just be a case that I had 5 adult men in the truck and I was not compensating for that.

It all changes when you (me) add: 35" tires and about 1,000lbs + of armor and cargo. I'd like larger OD rotors and larger calipers ideally. However having said that the next best thing and a whole bunch less coin are my ART rotors with carbon/kevlar pads.

I snagged a 200 series spindle/hub assembly, the brake mounting bosses are the same as the Tundra... so it does appear as though the larger Tundra brakes will bolt on. These larger brakes fit under some 17" wheels (TRD) and most 18".

After adding all my new toys too, I notice the poor stopping performance now too.

Mitch mentioned that he had to replace rotors/pads/shoes recently -- at 24,000 miles. That sucks!

I would really be interested in better brakes as well. There is definitely some fade from rapid repeated braking. They feel more "spongy" now as well.

Going from 13.5 to 13.9 -- is that a big difference for brakes???

I'd love to do a brembo kit, but that's $$$$.

Does brembo even have one for the 200?

It's a big enough difference to be worth doing...

Brembo makes a kit for the Tundra, it should fit the 200.

Did you try the tundra on that spindle you received?

I assume the 2008 tundra series version? 13.9 size?

So part number ptr09-34070 which is the Tundra '07-'09 Big Brake kit, will bolt on to the LC?

I just want to make sure we are talking apples and apples.

All the stuff I am finding says that it will only work behind 21 and 22 inch wheels, NOT 18's.
