Not only that, but the prefix "FJ" or "FZJ" or "UZJ" denotes the engine in the vehicle. So the FJC should be something like the GRJ-12x if it were a 120-series landcruiser. Just tells ya how much marketers know about LC history. __________________ '03 LX470: ART slotted & cryo'd rotors, Porterfield R4s pads, Stoptech stainless hoses, ARB sahara & Kaymar bars, HID's. Maybe you meant the LR2. The LR3 is definitely not smaller. I have one sitting in my driveway that I've been trying to sell since 9/07. It has more practical cargo room than my 100. Stock, it is probably just as capable off road since it has lockers all around. BUT.....will it last as long? No way. Is it engineered as robustly, not even close. I'm in for the long haul......thats why I'm trying to get out from underneath that heap.

Well....to be clear, center and rear. The rear locker was part of an optional Heavy Duty package.
I'm no hardcore off-roader by any stretch of the imagination, but I was able to go up and down this in Sedona very easily. LR3 is 100% stock with cr@p tires. I'm sure this is baby-grade stuff, but to me it was pretty cool. The pic doesn't do the angle any justice. __________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ '01 LX 470, stock except for Milford Cargo Barrier Last edited by socalsuv; 05-19-08 at 08:02 AM. |

Very nice pic! Looks like fun.
I have been driving my friends 2008 Sequoia for the past 2 days. Very nice vehicle, but here are my observations. It seems VERY large. While driving it, it feels like my 2007 Yukon Denali XL. Just very long, big and wide. I am not sure of it's actual dimensions, but that is the way it feels. It seems to sway more then my LC. Not as tight on turns etc. I have a hard time seeing everything out the windshield and side windows. Don't know why...just a weird feeling. Obviously I am biased, but I like driving it for a family vehicle. But with my very limited off road experiance, I would have a hard time navigating it off road. It seems to hide it's size from the inside view and therefore I would have a hard time judging angles from inside. Plus sitting in the drivers seat, it just feels HUGE inside. I feel like I am drowning in the front area. I will stick with my LC ![]() __________________ New 2008 LandCruiser 200 Series Grey Outside / Grey Leather Inside Slee Off Road Black Sliders Nitto Terra Grapplers ARB Bull Bar w/ Warn 12000 winch Master Pull Synthetic cable w/ Protective Sleeve |

Really? My FJ60 is still going strong at 220k and 24 years, and My FJ40 is going nicely at 37 years an unknown # of K. If what you say is true, the 200 should last like 200 years. Maybe that's how they pick the designations. ![]() Shotts, do you seriously think your 100 will be tooling around in 25 years? If nothing else, the scarcity of fuel will will be the end of it, and all of these trucks. I for one, am quite curious to see how long the complex electronic computer controls will last. My guess is that all of the late model trucks starting with the 80 series will get rapidly to the point where the electronics can no longer be fixed. I do hope that Toyota has a nice stash of ECUs for the future. __________________ Andrew 1971 FJ-40 Rubicon tested 1976 FJ40 RIP 1984 FJ-60 H55f, 4.11, OME, Daily Driver 1997 FZJ-80 Factory sub-tank, and other tricks |

About shotts....It just amazes me that EVERYTHING he says is always met with such distain that it ruins the threads. It is not his comments that ruin the threads...but people always just attacking him for things he as said in past. I don't know his past, and I am not asking. Is it possible to have a thread without all the insulting? I am just wondering...... ![]() __________________ New 2008 LandCruiser 200 Series Grey Outside / Grey Leather Inside Slee Off Road Black Sliders Nitto Terra Grapplers ARB Bull Bar w/ Warn 12000 winch Master Pull Synthetic cable w/ Protective Sleeve |

I really like the new LC, but I have to justify the huge cost difference. Both can be people movers with 3 rows of seating if need be, same engine, etc. Is long term reliability and better off-road ability worth 20-30k more? Hmmm... |

At the same time you do pick up more for your 20-30K than just reliability and off-road capability if you opt for the LC. Do keep in mind that unlike the last Seq, Toyota is stating right out of the box that the new Seq is not meant for trails and off-roading. If you think you may want to do some of that make sure you consider it it up front. Otherwise you'll be imited to the typical car-quality dirt roads. |

Or print media ads, either. But I open some older issues of Australian 4WD Monthly and I see 100 Series ads all over the place! __________________ Derek Lee `63 Mercedes-Benz UNIMOG (404.115) `64 Mercedes-Benz UNIMOG (404.114) `81 Mercedes-Benz 300GD (460.333) `90 Mercedes-Benz 500SL (R129) `02 Saab 9-5 Aero `04 Toyota Land Cruiser (UZJ100) |

As far as advertising for the LC in the US goes I can't remember ever seeing TV or print ads for it..But that doesn't mean they do not exist. I'm not too sure the reasoning for this. The "word of mouth" advertising the LC gets can just go so far as can its world wide reputation. Maybe Toyota doesn't want to sell any more than they do ? OTOH, has Lexus ever done any ads for the LX ?? We can't forget to add the LX sales into the equation. They count too . Don't they ? ![]() Land Cruiser Advertising - IH8MUD.com Forum ![]() __________________ 1989 FJ62 2001 UZJ100 2003 MBz CL55 AMG 1991 Range Rover |
