PickupTruck.com - Sources Reveal New Details About the Next Nissan Titan

Another bit of interesting news. So the new Titan will be an un-rebadged-Dodge Ram. And rumor has it that Nissan is considering a 3/4 and 1 ton variant, thanks to Dodge.

Wonder if this will push Toyota to bet Nissan to the punch and offer some HD Tundras??

going back to the hybrid issue... don't know if its posted yet but I spoke with a few oil refinery gurus, and they said that europe and japan already had 50mpg + diesels long before we had hybrid technology. VW diesel beetle comes to mind. And that toyota was just waiting to get a return in there hybrid investment before bring in diesels... Now I got pretty pissed when I hear this ...but then realized that we have more newer cars on the road per capita than any other country..? just a though.

If it weren't for the US EPA, there probably wouldn't be petrol-electric hybrids.

Mind you, if the GM engineers had done a better job of those early diesels, the US would also be in a better position.

This is great news!!! Anyone wanna buy my '08 LC200 5.7L V8 Gas powered beast? I'll need room for my '09 Twin Turbo V8 Diesel LC200. There is no way my wife will let me have two.

On another note, I think I almost gave her a heart attack when I said I may be getting rid of our Land Cruiser. I really hope this comes to Canada. Its about time we get something that the Americans don't. This has always been a small neglected market for autos and trucks. It's about FRIGGIN time!!!

Man, this thread is a total tease..hopefully they will refresh the exterior (i.e. less Highlander/LX570 Lexus looking) when they (if they) release this beast!

Diesel News from Toyota:

"Industry sources told Inside Line that Toyota engineers have been working on at least two variations of the new clean-diesel engine, including the 4.5-liter unit and a larger 7.0-liter V8 that would dwarf the company's 5.7-liter gasoline V8.

The 7.0-liter V8 diesel has been engineered as the workhorse unit in a new heavy-duty edition of the Tundra pickup that's tentatively slated for production in 2011-'12. The heavy-duty Tundra would be aimed primarily at commercial users, as well as consumers who need to tow boats, campers and horse trailers, and would compete with similar offerings from Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford and GMC.
