My 1963 FJ40 had all out Vacuum advance, but I think that the best distributor for a 2F is to take the side cover off of a FJ60 and put it on your FJ40. The FJ60 (i.e., '81 thru '87) large cap distributor is awesome! Waterproof, teflon coated internals, electronic, etc PLUS has two vacuum advance ports (I tee them together). If you are running a pre-75 distributor, you might consider running one of these...I am also a firm believer in diesel for offroad/4x4 usage. I almost sold my 40 series to pickup a 70-series w/5spd and diesel, but alas it wasn't turbo-charged...

Couldn't agree more. We've been talking diesels for months, but it gets costly fast and I don't know anyone locally you can talk too that has done it.
