There has been little talk because there have been almost no issues at all with these transmissions. I think if you go with a Toyota reman unit you will probably have no problems in the future. Sorry to hear about your experience.

For board info - Was the transmission ever serviced? Fluid change,flush ect... Although at 77k I doubt fluid failure has anything to do with the problem. Probably a single bad part or even assembly error.

Tell the shop that for the cost of the new unit and install that you want them to identify exactly what broke and if possible give you the bad parts. We will require post-mortem photos to do a proper inquest.
