Burnt Hood

So I was just out working on the 60.I Did an engine swap and desmog at the same time.I was taking it on a little test drive.About the only thing I have not done yet is put the air filter on and route the vacum lines the right way for the desmog(diagram is a little confusing).
Well I'm driving along and about a mile away from my house I start smelling something burning.Dang it where is my fire extinguisher?Oh ya I just got this truck and it don't have one in it yet.So I pull over and apparently when the thing back fired it caught the sound proofing on fire.Yikes! No fire extinguisher!Truck on fire!No water!Truck still on fire.No water in window washer things at gas station I'm stopped at.Truck is still burning!!!I run inside, all nasty by the way, with a used water bottle in hand that I found in the truck, fill it to the top at the pop fountain while everyone in there is stairing at me like I'm some kind of mad man.Run back outside put some of the flames out run back inside repeat, with everyone stairing once again.Truck not on fire any more.Phew that was a close one.It burned a bunch of the sound proofing and melted the paint on the hood.Oh well just a flesh wound.
I think I'll put the air cleaner back on before I drive it anymore.
Just thought you all might like to have a laugh on me,because I think its pretty funny.
Moral of the story.....Get a fire extinguisher (my other rigs have them)and don't drive a back firing Land Cruiser without an air cleaner, even if it is just a short test drive.
