The thing with fly fishing is it is the easiest and most fun way catch to game fish! After you have done fly fishing you will think that casting is spinner or spoon is like casting an old truck bumper . But all types of fishing is good, I still spin cast for fish from time to time.
There are a lot of myths out there about fly fishing, most of which stem from folk thinking they are superior because they fly fish "snob value".

This one goes way back, but I'm chiming in here.
Down here in South Louisiana, we jerk bream and cats and fish for bass with heavy bass gear b/c the water is so muddy and full of all kinds of debris. Fly fishing was as foreign to me as Russian but about 4 years ago I moved up to New Hampshire and while I was up there, i swore that i'd learn how to fly fish. It was a MF at first but I got the hang of it after losing many flies and tippet to blueberry bushes, trees and grass out in the water. When I finally landed a smallmouth on the Androscoggin River, I was hooked! Fly fishing is awesome and very rewarding. Relaxing too. A lot of gear can be had for pretty cheap and I recommend anyone interested in it, giving it a shot and seeing what they think.
