| Sirius satellite radio cutting out, anyone else having this happen? Have sirius satellite radio, had it for about a year, works awesome all the time. However, starting a few days ago while just driving down the road, perfect view of the sky, not even a cloud in the sky it will go to "Acquiring Signal", and then come back for 10-60 seconds, then go back to acquiring signal for several or many seconds. I've had this happen when going through tunnels and all that, but this is different.
When it's "Acquiring Signal" the signal meter is full (3 bars, the highest it goes), but it still says it's acquiring signal...normally when in a tunnel or something that meter goes down and shows an X since it has no signal. So it would appear to be getting some signal (I'm sure the signal strength meter is just an overal RF envelope of signal it's hearing, not a decoded signal strength meter, since from the RF work I've done, it's alot easier to just grab a value from the incoming overall signal)...but the signal it's getting can not be decoded correctly, pointing to some sort of interference.
I didn't think it was my radio since it has always worked flawlessly since installing it...called a buddy last night and his is doing the EXACT same thing, different radio, in a totally different install, etc...yet the exact same thing is happening, full signal but still "Acquiring Signal". So I suspect it's more of a general sirius problem...I've looked around some and haven't found many others complaining about it, some on a BMW forum were having similar problems I guess...
Only thing the same with my buddy's and mine is we are both in the Denver metro area...very well could be a location specific thing, since Sirius uses ground repeaters to compliment their satellite signal I've heard.
Anyone on here having problems?
