The Mitsubishi years are ending. Too bad for Ralliart. Economic crunch has taken its toll on factory supported cars.

Overall, outside of the T2 the Land Cruiser series didn't do so well at Dakar. That Prado overall came in 22nd place. Looks like there is a Hilux in 3rd place tho.

There is no way basically stock factory Land Cruisers are going to compete against highly modified Hummers/Mini's etc. That's why Toyota corporate never really enters the modified category.
They are interested in showing off factory spec vehicles.
The Hilux from Toyota SA had local corporate sponsorship, but it was highly modified with different gearboxes, tires, suspension, though it did have a stock 4.6L 1UR-FE engine.

I didn't know the T2 was so stock. From the pictures they looked heavily modded, but I guess a few stickers can sure change a vehicles appearance.
That's actually very impressive that these lightly modded vehicles place as well as they do. Thanks for the clarification Beno.

Yeah, T2 basically allows shocks, 33" tires and a snorkel, the rest of the mods are for safety (cage and such)......which blows my mind considering how the LC absolutely DOMINATES every year. The guys who run this race have a true understanding and appreciation of what these trucks are capable of.
Most guys on here have more mods on their cruisers than the ones in the Dakar......well sort of
