| Double cruiser rollover.......... Howdy folks,
Sorry about the short life of the last time that I posted this, but I was wisely advised by some forum members to take the pics down until everything blew over.
Story is: I sold my 1969 pig to USMCruiser, and was going to meet him in Salt lake so he could drive it back to CO. I rented a Uh@#L trailer, put the pig on it and off I went with my three year old riding shotgun. I was also doing a parts run from my condemned 76 pig, so I had an Axle, tranny and case, 4 doors, two fenders, a tailgate, rear springs, driveshafts and some misc smaller parts loaded into the back of the 80.
We stopped in Boise to talk to LXCRSR, and hit the road about midnight. around 0240, I stopped for gas in Burley, ID, did a quick equipment check and got back on the road. less than a mile down the road(wasn't even close to the next exit) I felt a nasty thump and jolt and saw sparks in my mirror. I downshifted from 3rd to 2nd and let off the gas, but the pig was doing the death wobble because UH@$L trailers don't have straps that compress the suspension on the towed vehicle(two susp working against each other).
So anyway, things started to straighten out a bit, but the tongue of the trailer had swung up underneath the 80 and lodged between the frame rail and the right rear wheel. This broke alll of my wheel studs off and I promptly lost that tire.
That sent me into a passenger side skid toward the median, and if I was traveling toward 12 o'clock, I hit the median pointing to about 8 o'clock. The 80 went right over and then over again, leaving us upside down. The pig stayed with the trailer and went over once and they landed on their wheels as a unit.
UH@#L settled with me to avoid a suit, but beware of deferred maintenance on Uh@#L equipment, this is not the first time I have seen under maintained and faulty equipment rented out as mission capable.
So, I got hit in the head by a door, mild concussion, and my daughter was completely unhurt. God is good.
