Just a thought, but a gunmetal/black powdercoat job might make them even more attractive, and with some 33" knobbies wrapped around them would make that rig look all that much better. Are those 18's?

No, they're 20s, with 275 55 tires, so at least I still have some useable sidewall for light off road use (but I don't think I'll be doing any rock crawling with them!)

Hmm, gunmetal is an interesting idea...

Well....after risking damage, I am now convinced more than ever that a properly equipped and 3" lifted UZJ is 98% every bit the off-roader as a 3-inch 80-series. In fact, despite me just building the '97 Lexus...I might sell it.

Here's some shotts from a 4.0 obstacle in AZ. I know of only 2 FZJ80's that have done it. One was my '93. The 100 climbed the huge obstacle with total ease, just like the 80. If I hear one more non-100 owner say IFS, Rubicon Trail, or whatever they can eat xxxx.

I would not even try this without 35's, N74L-shocks, and triple locks.

Fixed it for you!

Does the inside of your front tires rub your A arms? See the black mark on the passenger side tire on this photo.

4 out a 10. Funny. I was amazed Brian got me to even do it in the 100. You have no idea al the damage we've seen there on SUV's. It's was far harder than anything on Golden Spike, anything on Martinez Canyon, the Step on Charouleau Gap.

I am still really bothered since completing this obstacle. I want to sell the Lexus 450 and get a 100 I'll cut down and take these lines with all the time. I don't want to mangle my current 100. So, we're deciding right now. (Still send me my spring/packer order) Every time I try something extreme in the 100 I'm convinced more and more of it's closeness to the 80 in capability (at the same height). Plus...no more 80 bullshit. Overheating, front axle rebuilds, gutless. I'm frustrated! Sure, a 6" 80 has some advantages over a 3" 80, though crud....a 3-incher can run almost anything...and I've learned that so can a 100 (if it fits...and I'll shorten the next one making things even easier and lighter).

Ah...ya....the inside of the tire rubs the upper A's at full lock. I can eliminate it 100% by further adjusting my turn-stops. I'm OK with where they're at though.

By the way....thanks for your sliders. With the front wheel up 5' in the air the truck was leaning on the passenger slider. I'd a been over without good ones!

Here's 2 quickies....a Cherokee that ended up driving on his sidewalls and driver's body...spent 20 minutes trying...no go. A Bronco that wiped his other side. We thought he was rolling on every attempt. Try a 8.8 out of 10.

Nope on the 4.88. I don't want to mix and match parts. When (if ever) a rear gear set comes out I'll do it.

Nice Rig
Do you have pics of the rear bumper?

@ShottsUZJ100
There's an old story about a fox who kept trying to pluck some grapes but couldn't reach them. I don't want those grapes, he said, they are probably sour.

BTW ShottsUZJ100,
Great pics of you using your truck.
I love seeing a cruiser be used, and not sitting the driveway.
Being out, and exploring and travelling is what it's all about.

Cheers,
Nick

This thread has officially gone to poop. No chit chat and no pictures of ANYTHING other than a 100 series.

I'm gonna pee on a bunch of tires

Sorry, took out the picture of the Pinzgauer.

Here's our 100 in relatively stock form (just old school Slee step sliders and AO roof rack). Not shown is the ARB deluxe bullbar with foglight kit and Hella 4000 lamps. Cargo barrier waiting for install. And trying to decide on a rear bumper, at which point the suspension will go in (probably after the factory warranty runs out).
